I am an independent video game developer. This document outlines how data is used to provide this website, in-game features for players and basic metrics (such as new player & purchase counts) to help me understand how the game I made is performing.

About

This policy covers this website [castlemaster.app] and the video game "Castle Master". It governs the privacy of users and defines the way their data is handled. Castle Master is based in the United Kingdom.

In this policy, "web" means the version played in your browser. "App" means the installed version of Castle Master on mobile or desktop.

App gameplay

The app signs in through Game Center. Our API then issues a session cookie to the app to authenticate account requests, valid for seven days. The web version does not use this sign-in flow.

Data may be collected and will vary by player activity. Data collected is outlined below including purposes.

Web gameplay statistics

We collect basic gameplay statistics to help improve the web game, including levels started and completed, the date, playing time, stars and steps. Each attempt has a random ID that is not linked to a player or account.

Maintenance & Security

Necessary data such as error logs and IP (Internet Protocol) addresses may be recorded for maintenance and security purposes.

Browser storage

The web game uses local storage in your browser to remember progress and preferences. Local storage is not a cookie and is not automatically sent with web requests. The web game does not sync these saves to an account, the app or another device.

Music, sound effects, day/night mode, rain and timer settings.
Website theme
Choosing a light or dark theme saves it in this browser. Otherwise, we use your device's theme.

Saved data stays in this browser until you or your browser deletes it.

App account deletion

Warning! Causes permenant loss of all online data, gems and progress.

Your personal data can be manually deleted in the app.

Unity Technologies

The app is built in the Unity game engine which may collect data, for example device CPU and RAM specifications. For more information please see the Unity Privacy Policy and FAQ linked below.

IronSource

The iPhone and iPad app includes advertising provided by IronSource which is owned by Unity Technologies.

iOS users may opt-out of personalised advertising by enabling privacy features on their device, examples are provided below. Steps and wording may vary by operating system version.
